TEAMS

(The Walk for Life is even more exciting when you participate with a group of friends! There are two kinds of Teams this year!

Youth Teams can be made up of youth groups or school class. The members of a youth team must be under the age of 18 with the exception of two walkers who may be youth leaders or teachers.

Traditional Teams may include members of any age.

Each team must have no less than 3, and no more than 25 walkers. Each team member needs to fundraise individually, and have their own pledge form (paper or online) on Walk day. Be sure to designate one person as the Team Captain!

As a team captain, just follow the easy steps below to create a team.

1. Identify a unique Team Name (Please indicate the type of team you are creating by including “Youth” or “Traditional” at the end of the team name. For example: “Life Walkers – Youth” or “Team Today’s Choice – Traditional”)

2. Register yourself: Be sure to enter your team name, and yourself as the Team Captain when you register!

3. Encourage each of your teammates to register on-line – make sure they enter your team name when they register!

4. Visit the FAQs section of the event page on this website for helpful fundraising tips to share with your team!

5. Set a team goal and encourage your team to meet it! Check in with your team members weekly to see how their fundraising is going.

6. Walk on Saturday, October 15th to make a difference one life at a time! You can walk with your team in person at The Sussex County Fairgrounds or in your own neighborhood or community. Be sure each team member has registered online as a part of your team and/or written your team name on their pledge sheets.

FAQ

How do I fundraise on-line?
Create a personal fundraising page, then share it on your social media and email – just use the links on your fundraising page. Watch this video to learn how!

What should my fundraising goal be?
It will be easier than you might think! See the “How to Raise $500 in 10 Days” in the RESOURCES dropdown.

How will my sponsor donations be used?
All funds raised through the Walk for Life will benefit the life-affirming work of Today’s Choice Women’s Center. Direct donors to our friend/supporter website, your fundraising page, or your walk brochure to learn more.

Who should I ask to sponsor me?
You probably know more people than you think! Don’t forget to ask family and friends who live out of town! Using your social media can also be a powerful tool – take a peek at our RESOURCES dropdown for ready-to-go social posts and easy-to-share videos! If you prefer paper, use your Walk brochure and talk to friends at church, work, etc. Obtain your first pledge from a generous donor, often other donors will match that amount.

How much does it cost to participate in the walk?
There is no cost/fee for the Walk for Life. However since our goal is to raise $40,000.00 to support our mission, we encourage people to participate by raising funds or sponsoring themselves.

What does it mean that I can choose to walk at The Sussex County Fairgrounds on October 15th or walk in my own neighborhood?
We are so looking forward to joining together with many of you, in-person, at the Sussex County Fairgrounds.

However we understand that some of you may not be available to join us on October 15th. If you can’t be with us, we encourage you raise funds and to walk a different day (within the week) on you own or with a group in your neighborhood, or join as a prayer partner (see PRAYER PARTNER dropdown).

If you choose this route, you can drop off your Walk brochure with any pledges and pick up any prizes you may qualify for on Monday October 17th at 49 High Street, Newton.

We are so thankful for those that will participate either way!

We also understand that some are physically unable to Walk with us. Be encouraged! Our walk route is wheelchair and stroller friendly!

I signed up to volunteer that morning, where do I go?
Check in at the Volunteer Check-In Tent and you’ll be signed in, given your name badge, t-shirt and directed where to go. We encourage you to allow yourself a little extra time for parking and check in. Thank you for choosing to serve with us at this event!

How do I get a T-shirt?
Everyone who raises at least $150 will earn our inspiring custom t-shirt! One t-shirt per walker. We can’t wait to see you wearing our t-shirt!

All volunteers and Walk Champions will also receive this year’s shirt as a thank you.

How do I get a Sweatshirt?
Everyone who raises at least $300 will earn our 35th Anniversary Celebration sweatshirt! One sweatshirt per walker.

I can’t walk that day, can I still participate?
Yes! You can still raise funds, walk on a different day (within the week), in your own neighborhood or as a prayer partner (see PRAYER PARTNER dropdown). You can drop off any Walk brochures and pledges on Monday October 17th at 49 High Street, Newton.

What if it is raining the day of the Walk for Life?
Rain or shine, we will be at The Sussex County Fairgrounds!

Why didn’t you answer my question?
We tried to answer as many questions as possible. Get in touch with us HERE and we will do our best to answer your question.
